The 18 New Journeyans who helped make 200+ sandwiches on August 9 for Grace Lutheran Church heat respite in Phoenix, including Jane providing bread and Brenda helping with electrolyte orders. (On August 23, we will pack 200 sack lunches & sandwiches – see you then!)
Steve Brady and Lou Hutchinson for delivering all the food items to Grace Lutheran Church for heat respite in Central Phoenix.
Thrivent for a $250 grant to New Journey to add non-food items requested by Arizona Faith Network (AFN) to support greater Phoenix heat respite support: cooling cloths, body wipes, sunscreen packets, lip balm, antibiotic ointment packets, men’s and women’s sock, and yoga mats (to prevent pavement burns), as well as small toiletries donated on an ongoing basis by New Journeyans. The Ascension Lutheran heat respite grant, which allowed New Journey to provide a second large water pallet, delivered to Trinity United Methodist Church for sharing with other AFN sites.
