Summer Series: “Moral Teachings of Jesus” Schedule & Zoom Link

In 2024, Christian ethicist, David P. Gushee wrote a book titled: The Moral Teachings of Jesus, Radical Instruction in the Will of God. At the Festival of Homiletics, Pastor Beth attended a workshop and a lecture led by Gushee on his book, and was inspired to bring it back to the New Journey community.

This book will form the basis of a summer series in which our community will consider 11 moral teachings of Jesus. Beginning Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 pm by Zoom, members and friends of NJLC will gather around select teachings for discussion, deliberation, spiritual challenge and comfort.

The goal of this study is to return to the teachings of Jesus as the source of our knowledge and understanding about our moral values, principles, and actions as we navigate polarization in our relationships and communities. We might be corrected through this study. Certainly, we will be challenged and humbled. As people who follow Jesus, we hope a return to his teachings will guide our embodiment of his teachings through action and interaction and draw connections between his teachings and the practical situations, contexts, and events of our lives and world.
