October Church Council Meeting

From Kris Bartanen

The Council received the September 30 Treasurer’s report, which shows offerings at 102% of plan and expenditures at 68% of plan. Council also received and discussed the 2025 audit report with Chuck Peterson, completed with the assistance of Ron Schwartou. The report affirmed that all financial matters are being managed appropriately.

A proposal from Roger and Beulah Westland for purchase of three free-standing, movable room dividers (34x72” each) to create a pastor office cubicle in the southeast corner of the worship space – to be donated by the Westlands – was approved. A proposal from Crucial Productions for updated live-streaming equipment, shepherded by Steve Brady, was discussed in detail and – at his suggestion – postponed to permit further research and consideration. The Council expressed appreciation for both proposals.

The Council reviewed a draft half-time position description for a new pastor and received an update on the status of the call process. Discussion followed on the need to foster more lay leadership to support a half-time pastor, with particular note of 5 open Council seats for 2027. The 2027 Stewardship Campaign, to begin on Reformation Sunday, will include a call for commitments of time and talent as well as treasure.

Forthcoming Council meeting dates are November 10, December 8, and January 12 at 2:00 p.m.
