Christian Education

We believe that faith is a journey—it's not so much about the destination as it is what we discover along the way about God, ourselves, and our neighbors. Because we believe faith is not about believing the right things or having all the answers, but about discovery and wonder, we engage Christian Education from a variety of methods: Bible studies, Pub theology, spiritual practices and group discussions on contemporary concerns from a faith perspective. The goal and hope of Christian Education at New Journey is to develop theological thinking skills, discover our beliefs and new perspectives, and to nurture deeper relationships with God and our neighbor so that we might follow Jesus in our daily lives with greater confidence and assurance.

2025 Summer Series Road Trip: “Moral Teachings of Jesus”

This summer, New Journey invites you to explore the radical moral vision of Jesus through the lens of Christian ethicist David P. Gushee’s 2024 book, The Moral Teachings of Jesus: Radical Instruction in the Will of God. In response to a growing disconnection between modern faith communities and the life of Jesus, Gushee highlights 40 teachings from the Gospels that call for moral renewal and deeper engagement with Jesus’ message.

Beginning Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 PM via Zoom, we’ll journey through 11 of these teachings. Each session will include discussion, reflection, and spiritual challenge, shaping the following Sunday’s sermon. Together, we’ll seek to reconnect with Jesus’ moral vision as a guide for navigating today’s polarized world—with humility, courage, and hope.

Past Studies

What People Are Saying

“The Making Sense of the Cross study is certainly fascinating. David Lose does a good job of laying down the historical perspective of how Christians have tried to make sense of this difficult event over the ages and the world view that informed them. The ensuing discussions were insightful and thought provoking. Even though I have studied theology, I learned new things!”

“These are remarkable studies. So easy to understand, yet so challenging. Such an addition to faith development and spirituality. Even those of us who went to Seminary are learning because of the updated character of history, events and people, and because of the wisdom shown in choosing the illustrating examples. I am in love…”
