Please join us on September 8 as New Journey joins in the ELCA-wide Sunday of service. As part of the worship service, we will host our 4th and final heat respite lunch pack for 2024, allowing those who cannot join on weekdays to pack, which will bring the summer’s total to more than 2600 lunches for personal experiencing homelessness in the Phoenix area. We will also host an additional social ministry project (a “third” assembly line) so our whole congregation be able to be involved.

Join us on Sunday, September 1 for a hymn sing in worship. We will “tell the story” of God’s good creation, the love of Jesus, the wild Holy Spirit, and the Church and our faith with our most favorite ELW hymns.

On Sunday, August 25, our community will welcome Autumn Byars in worship to share about her experiences as the first Hunger Fellow to be placed in the Lutheran Advocacy Ministry of Arizona (LAMA) office.

You might be wondering: what is a Hunger Fellow?

Howard Osborn, beloved friend and member of New Journey Lutheran Church, completed his earthly life on July 23 at the age of 97, and now rests in God’s eternal love with all the saints in light.

With gratitude for his life, faith, and contributions to God’s world, we pray for his family and friends who are grieving his death.

New Journey will again participate in the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona 9/11 Multi-Faith Food Drive for Extended Hands Food Bank. Any food items you provide to our EHFB bin from August 12 – September 8 will be designated as 9/11 Food Drive contributions.

Fountains United Methodist Church reached out to New Journey for collaboration in support of the Family Promise program. This program supports families experiencing homelessness for one week at a time over the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons.
