New Journey Council (Kris Bartanen, Ron Bigley, Liz Peterson, Steve Brady), with Pr. Phil Gustafson, resumes monthly meetings on Tuesday, August 18. The agenda includes the pastor’s report; treasurer’s report through July 31; project updates and technology proposals; and continued preparation for next pastor call, including a draft of a half-time job description. While the NJLC Constitution mandates a minimum of two lay council members, we remain two persons short of the six members preferred. Jo Martinson has resigned as secretary, in light of her pending move from Fountain Hills.

We have had a series of problems with the livestreaming system at church. Some have resulted from human error, equipment failure, and internet connection issues. We realize the importance of the streaming to our NJLC family and are making every effort to resolve these issues. Please realize that we are volunteers and not professionals. The equipment we have was a gift from another church, and we have learned to operate the system on the fly. I’m asking for your patience. Give us time. At the next council meeting, we will discuss how we can do a better job. Thank you, Steve Brady & Pete Galindez

A Visit from Pastor Eric Shafer Christ the Lord - Carefree is planning an October 4th visit from Pastor Eric Shafer, Pastor in Residence at Global Refuge (formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service). We are hoping to plan an event weekend to assist Northeast Valley congregations in raising awareness of our calling as Lutherans to welcome and serve the strangers in our midst. Marylou Steeden I am pleased to announce that the financial condition of the NJLC is strong. The numbers through June (halfway through the fiscal year or 50%) are as follows: Income Year to Date = $93,227 (78% of Plan) Expenses Year to Date = $73,725 (54% of Plan) Income is high due to a few faithful members who pay their pledges in advance. This is very helpful as we pay some items on an annual basis early in the year, for example, Insurance and Software. Report for the month of July: Income = $9,015 Expenses = $8,652 Bank Balances Checking $19,980 Savings $11,780 Edward Jones $85,321
