Council Positions Still Open

New Journey needs your leadership input. We are still in the call process for a next Pastor; we have lay-led, clergy-supported responsibilities both during this interim period with Pr. Phil and when we have a next pastor; and we will have a stewardship campaign to address for the 2027 budget year. One position is open now; one additional is anticipated when secretary, Jo Martinson, moves closer to family; and additional positions will come open with for 2027. Please prayerfully consider stepping forward to let Cindi or Kris know of your interest.

New Journey provided two boxes and three big bags of books for NEVC partner, Living Water Lutheran’s Vacation Bible School summer ministry project. Your contributions to readers young and old are much appreciated!

BTW: NEVC partner, New Covenant Lutheran, welcomes toddler board books year-round should you find good options at Fountain Hills library’s children’s book basket, Presby Pickens Flea Markets, or other sources.

Honoring Rev. Dr. Penny Zettler

We received this beautiful message and image via email from a former student of Pastor Penny, which we share with Eric and Penny's permission.

Penny was the pastor at Trout Lake Camp in Minnesota one week back in the early 80s. She was the Pastor the week I went, and it was through her messages that I first felt God calling me to him.

Today, I'm a member of a United Methodist church in Georgia and a delegate to our Annual Convention. This week at our conference, we celebrated 70 years of women being ordained in ministry in the UMC. There was a piece of paper where they asked us to write the name of a female pastor who touched our lives. I'm attaching a picture, and it's hard to see, but Penny's name is on it. Her ministry means everything to me, and I hope you can share this with her.
