Ministry Updates

This past Sunday (9/6), we gifted Pastor Wanda Frenchman with several containers of coffee and cups. She was so grateful and said this supply will get her through the end of the year. She'll use these items for her talking circles, which include up to 60 people. Thank you, NJLC, for supporting her powerful ministry!

Next NJLC Council

September 15, 2:00 PM

Meeting 2:00-4:00 PM, this Council meeting will include a discussion, led by Pr. Phil, of “Listening to Our Ministry Site Profile”—an opportunity to consider four ministry priorities ahead for New Journey – as well as Council’s review of potential pastor compensation in the context of drafting the 2027 Mission Spending Plan, ahead of this fall’s stewardship process. In addition, we will discuss next steps for achieving reliable livestream for worship and rotations/recruitment of nominating committee and Council members. 

Property Ministry Volunteer Needed, Starting October 1

Lou Hutchinson has let us know that he will complete his long-time and commendable service supporting New Journey's building and landscape at the end of this month. We need one or two plant and building lovers to step up! Please let Cindi Brady, nominations committee chair, know ASAP if you’re interested. Thank you.

Livestreaming Update

As we continue working on long-term livestreaming solutions, we’d like to offer New Journey Members who cannot attend in person the opportunity to participate in worship by providing a PDF of the worship slides each week until the streaming is resolved. The newest downloads will become available on Saturdays.

Living Water Lutheran Church Grief Support Group

Have you lost a loved one recently, or are you still grieving from a former loss?

This 8-week program will take place on Wednesdays, 1:00-2:30 PM, from September 30 to November 11, 2026, capped at 8 participants.

A Visit from Pastor Eric Shafer

Christ the Lord - Carefree is planning an October 4th visit from Pastor Eric Shafer, Pastor in Residence at Global Refuge (formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service). 

We are hoping to plan an event weekend to assist Northeast Valley congregations in raising awareness of our calling as Lutherans to welcome and serve the strangers in our midst. If you would like to help plan this event, contact CTL’s NEVC representative, Karen Olson olsnks@gmail.com.

Income year-to-date = $ 115,924(91% of Plan)

Expenses year-to-date = $91,208(66% of Plan)

Report for the month of August

Income = $10,588

Expenses = $11,066

Bank Balances

Checking = $5,759

Savings = $21,780

Edward Jones = $85,321

Astute eyes will see that we moved $10,000 from checking to savings this month.
