Thank You, Sandwich Makers!

From Kris Bartanen

New Journey launched the 2026 Heat Respite season by expeditiously making 200 sandwiches after worship on June 7. Appreciation goes to Jane Stoss for providing the 20 loaves of bread, as well as to Brenda and Pete Galindez for bringing the halo oranges and bananas to go along.

The heat respite coordinators at First Church UCC-Phoenix, given their facilities, provide lunches via "buffet" style - so Nutrigrain bars, Lay's chips, strawberry jam & mustard packets to accompany the peanut butter & cheese sandwiches, napkins, and individual serving packets of electrolyte powder were delivered on Monday morning, June 8. We also delivered a box of t-shirts, small travel toiletries donated by New Journeyans, and a few re-usable water bottles contributed during the Lenten Challenge.

We look forward to our next sandwich pack on Sunday, June 21, after worship - with thanks, in advance to Steve Brady for delivering the goods to First Church on June 22.
