Rev. Yehiel Curry Elected Presiding Bishop of the ELCA
On July 30, 2025, Rev. Yehiel Curry was elected as the next presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) during the Churchwide Assembly in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the first Black leader to hold this role, succeeding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton.
