Prepare for New Journey's next 5th Sunday Letter-Signing on March 29:

  • We will once again participate in Bread for the World's Offering of Letters. All New Journey members, both year-round and seasonal, can participate. Visitors are also welcome to participate in letter-signing.

  • Bread's President, Rev. Eugene Cho, reports on recent advocacy success: "Last year, we watched as budgets for foreign aid, humanitarian assistance, and lifesaving health and nutrition programs were severely threatened in the U.S. budget. But instead of losing hope, Bread members like you went to work. You flooded your senators and representatives in Congress with emails, letters, phone calls, and meetings, making sure that the work of prioritizing these vital funds was always on the minds of lawmakers in Washington. And after a recent vote in the House, billions of dollars of funds have been designated for humanitarian aid, food security, and nutrition and global health through programs such as the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and Feed the Future. This funding will save lives and bring much needed relief to children and families all around the world."

  • There is still work to do in support of domestic hunger funding (for example, SNAP, WIC, and school breakfast & lunch programs) as well as passage of a comprehensive U.S. Farm Bill. Draft letters will be available in the March 20 eNews and posted on New Journey's Red Door.
