Growing in Faith: Diakonia’s New Courses Begin August 25, 2025

The Diakonia Program, a trusted ELCA ministry for over 40 years, invites you to plant yourself in good soil and grow through its newly updated curriculum starting August 25, 2025.

📚 What is Diakonia?
Diakonia is a two-year faith formation program designed to help followers of Jesus deepen their understanding and live out their faith more fully. With a flexible structure, students can begin with the Foundation Year and optionally continue into the Practical Year. Each year includes six 5-week courses, taught by experienced instructors.

  • Christianity in the Lutheran Key – Aug 25–Sept 29 (Rev. Anto Scheer)

  • Introduction to the Old Testament – Oct 13–Nov 10 (Rev. Richard Mauthe)

  • Introduction to the New Testament – Nov 24–Dec 22 (Rev. Len Hoffman)

  • Living as a Christian in the World – Jan 5–Feb 2 (Rev. Pat Reed)

  • Lutheran Creeds and Confessions – Feb 16–Mar 16 (Instructor TBD)

  • Worship Matters – Mar 30–May 4 (Rev. Ryan Hersch)

💻 Flexible Learning Options
Courses are available through online cohorts and hybrid communities in Metro Phoenix, offering in-person gatherings, retreats, and mutual care. Students from across the country are welcome!
