Bishop Hutterer Begins Sabbatical

We give thanks for Bishop Deborah Hutterer’s faithful leadership and share that she will begin a sabbatical this November through January 2026. This time of rest and renewal is a common practice in church leadership, offering space for prayer, reflection, and reconnection with God’s Word.

During her sabbatical, Bishop Hutterer will focus on Scripture and storytelling, returning briefly in December for key events including the ordination of Vicar Wanda Frenchman on December 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Phoenix.

Rev. Mike Girlinghouse will serve as Acting Bishop during this time, working closely with synod staff to ensure continuity and care.

We invite your prayers for Bishop Hutterer, Pastor Mike, and our synod as we enter this season of renewal and preparation for the work ahead.
