Reformation Sunday

While many of us think of Reformation Sunday as “Lutheran Heritage Day, "the Reformation influenced more than just the Lutheran tradition—Anglican, Reformed, Free Church are just a handful of denominations that formed out of the 16th century. On Reformation Sunday we gather to celebrate the life and work of Martin Luther, and his contemporary reformers: John Calvin, Huldrych Zwingli, Katharina Schütz Zell, Argula von Grumbach and countless others who contributed to the life and direction of the church. Who wrestled with questions about God, faith, and practices of the church.

Reformation Sunday is certainly a festival day where we celebrate and remember our history, and it is a day to reexamine our faith. What do we believe about God? What truths are we wrestling with these days? Truth about God and faith, as complex as it is, is something that we all get to wrestle with as God’s people. Wrestling with the truth about God and our faith is the legacy these reformers provided for us.

In celebration of wrestling with our faith, you are invited to join Reformation worship on Sunday, October 29. If you’re feeling festive, wear red!
